Marquez will try to race Honda RC213V at MotoGP Misano

CARITA TODAY, -
Since deciding to go up to the operating table for the fourth time, The Baby Alien has missed five races. His position was temporarily replaced by HRC test rider Stefan Bradl, while the #93 focused on recovering his right arm.

After a series of post-operative medical examinations, the medical team finally gave Marquez the green light to practice using a motorbike. Obviously, permission from the doctor was not wasted by the racer.

At the end of last month and this week, Marquez finished testing by riding the Honda CBR600RR at MotorLand Aragon. However, the track used is a karting circuit, not a MotoGP race track.

Judging not to cause significant problems, Marquez will also try to race the Honda RC213V. If declared fit, the eight-time world champion collector is ready to take part in the two-day Misano test.

"Satisfied with the condition of his right arm, Marc Marquez will travel to Misano with the intention of riding the Honda RC213V during the post-race test," said Honda's official statement, Friday (2/9/2022).

“After two positive tests on the Honda CBR600RR at the MotorLand Aragon Circuit on August 31 and September 2, Marc Marquez has gained valuable knowledge about the condition of his arm.

“With the information obtained and satisfied with the progress of his right humerus, Marquez will now travel to the San Marino GP with the aim of further testing his physical condition on his Honda RC213V during the MotoGP post-race test.

"The eight-time world champion will arrive at Misano on Friday evening to once again observe, and work closely with the Repsol Honda Team and HRC before heading to the circuit on Tuesday."

Honda Team Manager, Alberto Puig, had doubts about whether Marquez could participate in the Misano test. Even so, this Spaniard actually hopes that his driver will make a comeback as soon as possible.

Losing the figure of Marquez really hit the Japanese manufacturer hard. It's true how the squad relies on the #93, which is undeniably capable of exploiting the potential of the RC213V.

And despite Pol Espargaro, Takaaki Nakagami, or even Alex Marquez, all three struggled to bring Honda into the fight on the front row. This situation also confused the Honda camp.

"Usually, the Misano test is very important in order to prepare the prototype bike for Valencia," Puig told DAZN.

"If he (Marquez) wasn't there, we'd be a little bit blind, to be honest.

"We (indeed) have two drivers. In the previous cases we had to rely a little on Pol, and then on the test racers.

But of course, the person who knows this bike best from experience…(is Marquez).

"A rider knows his bike the moment he rides it and by the quality of the races he has done."
